Jo Anne Heywood Miller

Jo Anne Heywood Miller has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with a history of accomplishment at both Fortune 500 and start-up firms. She most recently served as a Principal with Nokia Innovent, a seed-stage investing team within Nokia's strategy and venturing organization. Before joining Nokia, she held executive roles at a number of start-ups including Gluon Networks, JetCell (now a division of Cisco), TeleAccess Communications and AirNet Communications. She also provided engineering leadership at AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Alcatel-Lucent) and Tellabs. Jo Anne holds a BS in mathematics from the University of Michigan, an MS in computer science from the University of Colorado and an MBA from the University of Chicago.


Bill Skeens

Bill is an independent consultant specializing in helping small companies obtain business with Fortune 500 telecommunication corporations.
 
Bill began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories working on and later managing large R&D projects for the telecommunications industry. In 1995 he became VP in the wireless infrastructure organization. While at Lucent Technologies, Bill was responsible for Lucent's first CDMA commercial release. At the time of his retirement from Lucent Technologies in 2001, he was responsible for the development of UMTS network elements managing teams in the US and Europe.
 
Mr. Skeens worked for Motorola from November 2001 until January 2004 in the position of VP of CDMA Engineering. In this capacity he was responsible for the development of several handsets and managed development teams in the US and Korea.
 
Bill received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University. He holds a patent for simulating overload conditions in computing systems. He serves on the Board of Directors of SCITECH, a science and technology museum located in Aurora, Illinois.


Gordon Saussy

Gordon Saussy has over 25 yeas of experience working in the mobile and data communications fields, with a history of establishing the product and market focus to drive two early start-ups to success, culminating in an IPO and an acquisition. He was most recently CEO of Megisto Systems, Inc., a pioneering start-up in real-time charging and control solutions for mobile data applications. Gordon previously held executive roles with Ericsson, Torrent Networking Technologies, 3Com Corporation, and Chipcom Corporation. Gordon has an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Bernie Smedley

Bernie Smedley has an outstanding track record as a top executive of both Fortune 100 companies and start-up ventures. He began his career at Motorola, becoming the Senior Vice President at Motorola who started and led the Cellular Systems Business for 11 years, achieving the number one position in worldwide market share. Following Motorola, Bernie was CEO, Chairman and Founder of AirNet Communications, a venture-backed digital cellular wireless infrastructure company. Bernie was also the CEO and Chairman of STI, a software company with expertise in the satellite command and control area. He restructured STI, taking it public and brokering a successful sale to Harris Corporation. Most recently, Bernie restructured First Mark Communications, a billion dollar European fiber optics cable company and sold the company to a US carrier. Bernie holds a BA degree from Washington and Jefferson College and a BS in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
